Education isn't just for children. In many ways the real growth begins after we become adults — it takes knowledge to see the world clearly, reflection to understand our time, and wisdom to rebuild ourselves. Looking back, everything I've done since 2014 has, in one way or another, revolved around this single thread.
What I'm doing now
YouTube — "Yinuo's Channel"
I think of it as the "last mile" between human wisdom and ordinary people: taking ideas that usually stay with scholars and inside books, and "translating" them into something anyone can understand and actually use. The work is built around a framework I keep coming back to — the mind (how to think well), the heart (how to face ourselves), and the hands (how to do things, and live, better).
Substack — "李一诺"
Where my Chinese writing began again in 2026, for adults who want to think seriously. My English writing is on LinkedIn ("Yinuo Li") and in my newsletter, A path beyond ourselves.
Nuoyan community
An online learning community I founded in 2017, now home to more than 30,000 Chinese-speaking members across 100+ cities worldwide, who learn together, build in small groups, and meet in person. I release a new year-long course each year.
Workshops, in person and online
Since 2022 I've led workshops both offline and online. More than a thousand people have taken part so far — learning to look outward and see the world clearly, and to look inward and find the boundless treasure in themselves.
The road here

Undergraduate at Tsinghua University; PhD in molecular biology at UCLA. I joined McKinsey and became a global partner (2005–2015), then served as the first China-office Chief Representative of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (2015–2020).
In 2016 I was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
In 2014 I founded the media platform "Nulishehui" (Slavery Society), publishing more than 1,200 original essays and reaching over a million readers. In 2016 I co-founded ETU Education, built around an education that returns to common sense. Both were brought to a close at the end of 2025.
Writing and conversations
I've published Where Does Power Come From (2021) and a book on parenting, 笑得出来的养育 (2024). I've also helped bring more than twenty books from abroad to Chinese readers — including Michael Singer's The Surrender Experiment, crowd-translated by readers of "Nulishehui," whose Simplified Chinese edition sold over 200,000 copies and became one of the top ten mind-body-growth titles in Chinese.

I've hosted public conversations with many authors and scholars, among them Chizuko Ueno (Misogyny), Julie Lythcott-Haims (How to Raise an Adult), Kenneth Stanley and Joel Lehman (Why Greatness Cannot Be Planned), and Caroline Criado Perez (Invisible Women) — helping more Chinese readers meet these ideas and the stories behind them.
